We are always looking for artists with vision, passion and professional dedication. If you would like for us to review your work for possible inclusion in a future show, please send 3-10 digital images plus a link to your website, to MK@SantaFeREC.com. As curators, we aim to find the most compelling match between venue and artist. Our criteria for inclusion includes whether your work would be a match for our space, so please do not be disheartened by rejection.
Following are a few things we’d like you to know about our efforts to support Independent & Emerging Artists and Musicians, AKA Changing Gallery. Please read through what we do and do not offer to ensure that we are fit for you.
What is Changing Gallery?
Changing Gallery uses on-market real estate listings as gallery space to showcase the art and photography of unrepresented, local creative talents. The location of the gallery will change, depending on what listings we have available. Thus far, we have held shows in a 1940s period duplex, a complex of luxuriously restored, historic condos (mini-galleries) and a vintage Grocery Store.
Why We Do It
Through these events, we aim to:
* support the work of independent and emerging creatives who do not currently have representation or a place to show their work.
* build community: provide opportunities for interaction between people who would not usually intersect
* offer sellers a unique marketing opportunity: exposure to fresh eyes, potential media coverage, referred goodwill.
What we offer
Publicity: Invitations posted or e-mailed to a broad local and national community. Pre and post publicity via our website, social media and blogs.
Media Coverage/Networking: Announcements in local media. Ongoing wooing and pleading on your behalf.
Organizational/Logistical Support: We will coordinate/curate, host and help set up and break down shows (although we appreciate help–see below)
Sales Talent: it’s our day job to sell things; we’re good at it, and we’ll gleefully do it for you.
100% of all Proceeds: When we sell something of yours, you get 100% of the proceeds.
What we don’t offer
Insurance coverage We just don’t have the funds to insure the work we feature in our shows. However, we will handle your pieces with TLC. Listings are locked and only accessible by appointment OR, if on lockbox, by electronic key, which provides us immediate notification via email. If anything should happen to a piece, we would know who was last in that unit and the agents know that we know this. We’ve never had any problems.
Here’s what we need from you:
Assurance that you are not contracted with another NM gallery, or that your gallery consents to your showing with us: We don’t want to tread on any toes.
Prompt response to communications: Even if you do not have all requested info, please indicate that you have received our e-mail and are gathering info–whatever you know. To track you down by phone or dispatch repeat e-mails is a substantial time burden.
Complete info on your work: When you bring us a new piece, please ensure it is labeled and comes with a tag. Alternately, you may supply small numbers which match a legend of full descriptive info on a separate sheet. Complete info = the name of the piece, its dimensions, the medium, its price and your name.
Attendance at Openings: You’re the stars. They want to meet you.
Set up/Break down assistance for the shows.
And, finally:
Support for us and the listings: If you like the featured listing, please talk it up to anyone you think might be interested. And, if you know anyone wanting to buy or sell Real Estate in NM, please pass along our names and contact info! We are smart, hard-working, detail-oriented and committed to ensuring people smile at our memories. Recommend us, and we will make you heroes. This is not a condition of your participation, but it does help us convince sellers this is worth doing and helps keep us in biz so we can keep doing this.
